Default New 2004 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas

I've recently bought a Jaguar XJ8 with about 100K miles. It's a great car, however there are several quirks that I'd like to fix. If someone here has experience or advice on where to start on these issues, your input would be greatly appreciated.

- The dash is showing a left turn signal repeater failure indicator. The left turn signal blinks twice as fast as the right, however, the lights at the front and the rear of the car blink normally
- On cold mornings (<40 F) the main touchscreen does not turn on, nor does the climate control system work. The radio does work if I press the power button, but the screen still doesn't turn on.

- The fuel gauge floats a little, when the car starts it'll read as fuller than it is, then slowly lower over about 15-20 minutes to the proper level. Occasionally, after filling the tank, The gauge won't read as full immediately, but the arm will slowly rise until it reads full after several minutes of driving.

Of course, these are relatively small issues, (I'm also working on some others: a possible timing chain cover oil leak) but I'd like to get them resolved ASAP. Does anyone have any idea where I can start?

WRT the fuel gauge you could try removing the petrol gauge float in the tank.

This is just a potentiometer which is clipped to the side of the plastic 'bucket'

which contains the fuel pump. The contacts on this are known to corrode.

You can replace it for little money but check operation on the bench

which may confirm bad contacts.

PS I hate working around petrol

Re touchscreen there has been a similar fault posted recently and the head unit was replaced

to resolve faults.

Thanks for your response, I will look into that for the fuel gauge.

As for the touchscreen, I can't find the post you are referring to. Can you please send a link to it?
