Default New companion for the Jaguar

Did you ever see a throughbred horse in a field, and they put a little donkey in to keep him company ?

Well I have just bought a friend's 1977 MG Midget which he has owned since 1987. I went with him to pick the car up that year, and in truth he has not used it much, as it is on 22,000 miles. He has been in the US for nearly 20 years and is now married to a 'Southern Belle', except they have to live in Lancaster, PA because of his job. 72" of snow last winter, Whow !!

Picked car up by trailer on Monday last and it will be ready for the road Monday coming, the ONLY car small enough to fit in my crowded garage. My, things have moved on with automobile engineering, havent they ? It is quite primitive, but cute.

Don't know about moved on.

The computer sitting behind the wheel, not only has the ability to diagnose a multitude of issues from different sources at the same time, but is also able to go and fix them.

A Midget certainly brings back some fond memories of belting over the Pennines in Winter with the top down and blue fingers.

Post up a few pics, please over in the Non Jaguar vehicles section.

That brings back memories... a friend of mine had a burgundy one in college in the early eighties. We had a lot of fun in that little car, and you are right... very primitive!

I had a 74 blue one. Traded in a 64 Cadillac Fleetwood when I bought it! Now that was a noticable change!!!

I think I would have liked that 64 Cadillac. The only place I ever saw the big American cars was in Belgium, where my parents went on holiday with their family for a couple of years.

One thing I DO know, is that the Cadillac will not fit my garage !!

My younger sister had a Midget from the late sixties back in the eighties. I think she drove it 3 times and towed it about 8 but it was really cute in her driveway.

Of course, the perfect companion for an XJ8 is a XK8. They just sit in the garage and purrr together.

Best regards,
