The knobs take me about 3 weeks to make between other jobs like walking the dog, going out for coffees, and other important stuff. It is the lacquering that takes the most time as between each of the 6 coats i leave them 2 days to get really hard so that I can rub them back with wet and dry paper, first 400 grit then the last two coats with 1000 grit. That gives the knob a very high gloss and hard wearing. i have made a few with other makes of badges, Triumph, Cobra, BMW and an Alfa Romeo.
I still make them from 3 pieces of spotted gum which startes out as off cuts from flooring at my local timber yard, but it is getting harder to obtain. I glue the pieces together with extra strong outdoor grade AQUADERE. I have tested the joints and the wood breaks before the glue gives up.
I was lucky enough to stumble upon the Growler badges but only managed to purchase 5 of them, the seller says he is ordering some more. Fingers crossed here.
This is just a hobby for me to keep me off the internet and Utubes of Jaguars and other race cars. I also make working model steam engines, but they take many months (sometimes years) to build from scratch.
