Hi yall, New here, I dont have a jaguar yet but am looking quite seriously. Im very new to these cars and dont know alot about them. Im usually a truck guy but want something more comfortable and a little smaller than my 7000 pound yukon xl for long trips with just me. I am currently looking at a 2007 XJ super v-8, I guess this means its special or what ever. Has 49,000 miles on it and is clean as a whistle. The power is awesome too. But Im not sure what to look out for here. What problems might occur at almost 50k. Also im not one to stick with a stock stereo, how hard is it to add aftermarket subs and component speakers to one of these? I want to keep the stock head unit due to the very easy to use nav system. Also how are these as far as reliability, one reason im looking at this as im selling my silverado due to it being a huge money pit. I will buy a new truck in the spring, but right now a sedan for going out to fancy restraunts or traveling long distances is what I need. I have checked out the infinity M45, S600 mercedes, The Lincoln MKS with its ecoboost engine, etc, but non feel as special as the jaguar. I also do not like the looks of the new ones, I test drove it and the interior is awesome, but the exterior looks to much like a ford Taurus to me and I cant live with spending close to 100 large on a car that looks like a 30,000 dollar ford.
Really just wondering what should I know about these cars, any surprises, things to look out for, etc?

Hard to say on a 2-3 year old XJ, but if it still has the air shocks and suspension system (I think it does) that may be an issue down the road.
Super V8 = fast
Sounds like a nice car. As for keeping the factory stereo and nav together, there's not many products that will integrate, but Kenwood's CarPortal system is claiming they can tap into the existing video screen, allow OEM deck operation, in addition to allowing all the other audio/video add-on capabilities. Sub upgrades are also limited in a free-air system, but there are some options out there...kicker does them, and i've read some good reviews after upgrading. New component speakers are probably the easiest aspect of the car you'll have to deal with.
good luck.

does the car have stock subs? I have no problem throwing a box in the trunk with two 10"s or 12"s with thier own amp, I also want to amp the new components, could I just have a shop put a line out converter on the back of the stock nav unit? All I need from the stock system is signal. It will just be controls after im done with it and even with subs in their box it leaves plenty of space for my one duffle bag and laptop, If I ever carry more, I just throw it in to the bottomless pit that I call a GMC yukon xl.

I used a line out converter for the amp and two subs I installed a week ago. I do believe the system's amplifier is in the trunk on the left side. It's just in front of the nav and cd changer. The factory unit is pretty loud especially if you add some more bass. I think you might have a problem with raffling if you add it much. You will also have to decide the placement for the component and disconnect the two dash speakers. The stock tweeters are very small, so pay attention to the size of the aftermarkets you buy, unless you are drilling. The trunk does work for an easy amp install. There are several factory grounding point and the battery is in the trunk. Also, the factory amp is like 40 watts by 8, so make sure your line converter can handle that wattage.
