Good day everyone, I hail from NW Pennsylvania. This week I’m considering pulling the trigger on an ‘05 XJR.

The only hang up I have is that the specific vehicle is out of state from me. I’ve never in my life purchased a vehicle sight unseen, so this is quite nerve racking. I’ve owned many “fun” vehicles in the past such as multiple 73 Mustangs, a 79 Monte Carlo, and a 98 Mustang Cobra. I’m a domestic guy at heart, so that’s why I’m interested in the Ford era Jags.

Anyone have any suggestions regarding buying a vehicle out of state and having it shipped?

Also, here is a video of a cold-start. I know it’s very brief, but is there anything concerning to note?

Howdy very nice choice on the XJR. I purchased my XJ out of state sight unseen and here are some things I did;

Talk to the owner and ask lots of questions, I did a skype video with him around the car and went over any flaws or anything weird

Once you agree on a price make sure you get a copy of the title and a signed bill of sale with the sellers address on it

Once you have the signed bill of sale back, and have good faith in the seller, I sent a certified check with a return envelope and he sent the singed title back when he was happy with the check.

Hired an open transport truck from a transport broker and the car showed up at my house, it's been a wonderful car!
