New Owner of a 2009 Jaguar XJ Portfolio

2009 XJ SV8 Portfolio Astral Gold
Apparently it belonged to a 75 year old lady who bought it new at the same Seattle dealership and had it serviced there as well. She traded it in on a 2015 XJ. Clearly she did not drive much. We got it with 10K miles for just under $50K with a 3-year Jaguar-sponsored extended warranty. Not a steal but I wanted this color much more than the black. The black one is a stunning car when clean, but in Colorado it is hard to keep them clean if you drive them at all. The Astral Gold color is the most dust and road grime hiding color I have ever owned. We entered the black one in Championship class in the RMJC all-Jaguar concours this summer and it scored 99.79 taking second place to a beautifully maintained 2004 XJ that was cleaned for 8 hours straight and scored 99.95. Knowing what the markdowns were for the black one, if I am willing to get out a toothbrush and a box of Q-tips, I believe the gold one could be a 100.00 point car with a little attention given to a very small curb scrape on one wheel - it's that clean a car. Lucky for us, I guess. We love it. I have to say that the drive from Seattle to Denver through WA, ID, MT, WY & CO to get it home was pretty spectacular, too.

But what about the leaper?
Ah, yes, the wheel rims. I spend all my money having them reconditioned from scrapes on the curb. That's why I posted recently asking for advice about downsizing to 19" wheels to get a bigger profile and to get more rubber between me and the road.
My 2009 Celestial Black Portfolio has a 'leaper' and neither of yours does. Was it just a dealer optional item?
[Hooray for 75-year-old little old ladies who don't drive much!]

2012 XJ Supercharged
2011 XJ Supersport (510HP) $47k
2013 XJL Portfolio
2010 XKR or 2012 XK
Personally, I would spring for the Supersport (original MSRP $110k)
Cheers,

Question -- for the same price, would you get a low mileage last-generation model or a normal mileage current model that's still in warranty? To me that's a no-brainer.
Cheers,

For me, as for many others, hence this thread, I prefer the last generation body style, so been a no brainer for a person who's not a fan of only the 350/58 body is a mute point just being candid..
(Again, I reiterate, "hence this thread"; it's pretty obvious some here could have easily purchased a new generation body)

Wolfy,
A 2009 Jaguar XJ Portfolio (and the 2006 model for that matter) is a car for someone who truly appreciates the classic Jaguar design, desires performance and modern conveniences along with refinement and attention to detail, and also wants to be one of the select few who gets to own a rare limited production model. Not only is the 2009 Portfolio a rare car (140 produced), but the X358 series in general was only produced for 2 years in total, so it has all of the makings to become a future collector car with the potential for their value to increase substantially 20-30 years from now for a well preserved low mile example. This is the reason why a low mileage car is still commanding such high prices.
The new XJ model is a complete diversion from the X350/X358 Jaguar design. In my opinion, there is no reason to compare them at all.

I agree.
And IMHO, I think that the 2006 PF, although 260 were produced, will be an even more sought after collectible, because it's closer to the original 2003 Concept eight proto.
It has the original sleeker design, and it's the only one that e.g. has the real power vents and separation of back seats.

Prices here are not so favourable for used Jaguars, normally car prices in USA are cheaper, but as for the Portfolio (2009) the prices here seem to be cheap.
As said one sold last month for $22K, had around 130Km on it....a good price..... mine was advertised for $25K, has 115Km on it and still has dealer warranty till July 2016, and not much interest. (all supercharged)..... anyone seen the naturally aspired Portfolio, in the bouchure it did say there were some but never seen any.
Would love to keep it but never get time to use it as got the work car and the family bus, motorbike.... also got a 2000 daimler back home.
