New tires on 07 XJ8

Speedometer will register a bit high, not significant. The reduced hide height will also be quite minimal. My current car came with 245/40/19 Goodyear Eagle LS, a truly horrible tire by most measures. The profile height was correct, but the 19" setup calls for 255/40/19's so I assume it was what was available at the time.
The differences between the two tires you are comparing is very minimal, still, it is usually best to match the OEM wheel/tire sizes. Here is what the calculator at Tiresize.com says:
Sidewall is .3" less - note that's NOT lowering your car .3". More like .05 to .1" - they are .3" wider (+3.2% more) and the diameter is .3" (.2.2% less)
These are very minor differences so no realistic gain/loss - so I ask: why? if there are huge savings involved, I night do it. Otherwise I would seek the right size tire. But that's just me. You do what feels right. I have seen much worse, like the mid 90's Civic with 19" wheels (stock was 13" - 14 on the Si, lol) When I asked if it rode hard, he said "no, because I lowered the car. Huh? That would not help but further destroy the car setup. Your situation is a judement call. I doubt yo can go very wrong if you put these on the car.

Hello Mr. milesfwm
Well, regarding
Unlike Mr. rsa760041... we are all, (actually most of us), are using the same "Bilstein"'s shock absorbers and
ZF's ZF6HP26 6 SPEED Automatic Transmission Gearbox...
For example, my JAG wears Pirelli's 255/40 R19 and XJ-R models wears 255/35 R20, (I guess),
So...
The drive comfort won't be compromised.
(To my opinion... the 245/45-18 is not part of Jaguar's tires size range).

FYI.
Well, regarding
issues going from 235/50-18 to 245/45-18? Thanks
