Right I dried out the ecm and gave it a good clean also cleaned multi pin plug as well. Connected laptop up today and now have a U1262 – SCP (J1850) Communication Bus Fault.Tried to connect using sdd but unable to communicate with ecm. Anyone got any ideas what to do next or is my ecm fried. If I can get hold of another ecm has it got to be programmed to my car.

Many Thanks

Steve.

To bypass the X350 gearshift interlock and put it into Neutral:

1. Open the ash tray/lighter compartment in front of the J-gate (gearshift mechanism).

2. Grasp the front edge of the J-gate trim and gently pull upward to disconnect the clips and lift the trim piece up and over the gearshift lever.

3. With a flashlight, look into the gap on the left side of the J-gate for a small black plastic cylinder that protrudes from the side of the mechanism. The cylinder has a square "ear" on each side.

4. Using a long flat-bladed screwdriver or similar tool, lift the rearward "ear" to turn the cylinder counter-clockwise until you hear a click. While holding the cylinder in that position, pull the gearshift lever out of Park and down to Neutral.

I don't think that it is mandatory that you have the key in the ignition switch, but it may help to have the key in and in position II (ON).

Cheers,

Don

Thanks Don once again for your help. Just to let you know I think the ECM is faulty cannot even get the lap too read the vin number . Last time I had it working the Sdd said I have lost comms with the ECM. I tried re communicating with it but alas nothing. Do you know if its a Jag dealer only to check the ECM or if I can get another one for them to programme it to my car.

Many Thanks

Steve.

If you have Mongoose cable and JLR SDD software, you can program it yourself

I dont know if this will help you but I was messing around with SDD and I dont know what I did, it lost communication with ECU and showed me the red x, wouldn't read vin only showed all ?????????????, I did a hard reset and no help. I though I fried the ECU, i manually entered the vin and I went and did a configure existing powertrain control module, it brought the ECU back to life and it's working and connecting again.

The last few times I managed to connect with SDD it could not read the vin automatically. I had to input it manually. The last time I tried it would not even read it by putting it in manually.I have know got to find someone to test my ECM. Its going to have to wait for the time being I"ve got to prep my motorbike for a tour to Europe coming up soon.
Thanks Steve.
