Hi all,
2006 XJ8 Super V8.
Suddenly I have no rear entertainment (console will not power up), no audio, and the phone no longer works "phone is not fitted".
I've been through the fusebox with no luck - does the combination of losing all three of these things at one time point to any specific area of interest?
Thanks!
Graham

Thanks - I have checked all connections and they seem good.
My understanding is that the fiber optics are a "loop" - do the items that seem to have dropped off (phone, audio (amp?), rear entertainment) point to any point of failure i should check first? I cannot tell if the amp is actually on, but power to it is solid.....
Thanks!

You can't easily tell which part of the loop is broken. Once broken the whole audio system shuts down.
What you can do with a lot of patience is to disconnect the optical connectors one by one and see which one has no light, then the culprit would be the device before it.
Note that the optical system is active only for a few seconds after you turn the ignition on. Then it would error out and shut off.
There is optical diagnostic in the nav service menu (hold phone & menu then enter code 917 when asked). Maybe it can help. Another option is to use the Jag SDD software.

Thanks for the replies - would you happen to know if there are any fiber connections in the center console? I was messing about near the rear fans before all these things died. I do not recall seeing any fiber in there, but I could certainly be mistaken - would love to know if I'm barking up the wrong tree before taking the console apart.....
