Noise from engine when key off
#2
Hi Dstuart0712,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.
I have moved your post from the forum for the XJ40 to the forum for the X350, which is the Jaguar factory project code for your 2005 XJ8. Here you will find knowledgeable owners of similar cars.
Regarding the siren sound you are hearing, does the sound continue indefinitely (until you disconnect the battery), or does it shut off on its own after a few minutes?
The horns are on the left side, just ahead of the left front wheel.
As far as I know, the security system sounders are both located in the front right of the trunk.
If the siren sound is definitely coming from the engine compartment, could it be an electric motor with failing bearings, such as the electric radiator cooling fan?
Hopefully others will respond with additional ideas.
In the meantime, please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST and post a required introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.
Cheers,
Don

2005 Vanden Plas noise
Jag has 97,000 miles and no problems til now. Sounds like a loud fan noise. Started while driving and continued after engine cut off. Only stopped when battery disconnected, and when battery reconnected several hours later noise continued. Seems to be coming from the passenger side engine compartment.. Thanks for any help.
