Default Oh boy...now I've done it!

While wrestling with the LH valve cover (trying to get it back on) I accidentally punctured this fuel hose.
This hose apparently connects into the LH fuel rail
What kind of trouble am I in? And by 'trouble' I mean $$$
Is there any kind of fuel resistant/self sealing tape that could mend this?

Any help appreciated...

Mike

Roughen surface, degrease with brake cleaner, apply JB weld.

Thanks for the idea. Do you think any particular "flavor" of JB weld would be better than another?

Hi Rufus,

Nylon is the most common material for plastic fuel lines, so it is doubtful that JB Weld or any other commonly-available adhesive will adhere to it well enough to resist 50psi+ of fuel pressure. But since your leak is so close to the metal damper, why not just cut the hose off at the leak, carefully cut the short bit of of hose off the damper's barbed fitting, then force the new cut end of the hose on to the damper? It looks like you have enough length in the hose.

If the hose cannot be forced on to the barbed fitting, try heating it in boiling water or with a hair dryer or heat gun. This video shows how this works:

Cheers,

Don

Thanks Don, that seems like a more viable and secure option. Definitely something to explore further...
