oil consumption question
Hi all...
I have a 2008 XJR with 1800 miles on it. Checked oil this morning after the car was sitting for about 8 hours or so...noticed that then oil level was a little above the "MIN" mark..I think this means that I may be a little less than 1 quart low? I read the owner's manual and it says that some oil consumption is normal, especially when the car is new/break-in period? What has your experience been? I drive mostly highway so may be this has something to do with it. If this is in fact normal, then I would think Jaguar would recommend changing oil more frequently than every 10k...thanks for your replies!

P.S. How many quarts total does the XJR take?

Apologies if this seems obvious...
The engine may not have been topped up to the exact full level during PDI. If it was mine, I'd want to quantify the consumption before bringing the car in for the first service.
Top up the level, with the car level, until you get it exactly correct. Monitor the oil level at the same conditions as you previously detailed. If you can't get the level exactly correct to start, you can always put a small mark on the dipstick with a file.
I would only be alarmed if the consumption you indicated remains consistant, but you don't know for certain where you started from yet.
