Default Is An Oil Cooler Housing Coolant Leak Common?

Dear Forum,
Is a coolant leak from the underside of the oil cooler housing common, please?
I have a substantial coolant leak but I can see nothing from anywhere at the top of the engine or from any of the cooling pipes (including those all the way down there at thhe Oil Cooler Housing?

Replaced your radiator yet?
Your location really puts a load on the cooling system
If not try looking where the plastic on the side of the radiator.
Meet the cooling tubes, thats where my leak was found.
Very slight at first, with no smell of leaking coolant,.
That increased over time, along a very faint smell of coolant.
Lots of places for the coolant to drip from

Were your hoses replaced with the radiator?
Replaced all my surrounding hoses as preventive maintenance.
With the radiator, even though none were leaking.
Some are not very easy to be seen.
Or to get to, being situated underneath of one another
Auxillary water pump is also a possible leak
Thermostat with housing, as well as the water pump.
A couple other likley places for a leak to develop.
Coolant has to be leaking down onto the oil lines from above.
You may need to pressurize the system to find the leak.
Best of luck finding the leak

Dear Forum,
Found it!
Nothing to do with the Oil Cooler Housing...
The Coolant Expansion Tank that I replaced some 3-4 years ago had a hairline crack at its left hand end which hit the top hose and then dropped.
I only do around 5,000 km per annum, so that tank failed after (say) 20,000 km.
Was not expecting that!
Any recommendations for yet another replacement, please?

Both of mine were in need of replacing, when purchased.
So far the inexpensive ones, seem to be working fine.
But the heat where you live is pretty intense
Expensive ones, could be made with a better grade of plastic.
Getting things aligned, where nothing, is touching, anything else.
I M H O is real inportant, shoving an old piece of an innertube.
Between anything that IS touching, will work if your lazy
Everything will fit nicely, sort of like a puzzle

Second Coolant Expansion Tank fitted in around 20,000 kms.
Yet again, the new tanks cap leaked like a sieve and I had to replace it with my old original cap!
DO NOT DITCH YOUR OLD CAP WHEN REPLACING WITH CHINESE!
I also now have two spare new Coolant Level Sensors...Couldn't be bothered to unplug the original from the loom...Connector would probably have crumbled in my hand!
All is fine now...For the time being...

What was wrong with the old system, wherein you had a spring-tensioned radiator cap which released into a plastic overflow bottle in the event of overheating?
At least the 15 psi pressure of the system was dealt with within a proper metal system?
Instead of trying to contain 15 psi inside a crappy plastic box, becoming more and more brittle with every heat cycle?
And as for Cam Covers, Thermostat Housings etc, etc, don't get me started...
You do not have to be an engineer to see this (no plastic on a Wärtsilä Ship engine and much less than this on an XK)?

Ray, engineers has nothing to do with this one! There are plenty cases where you can blame engineers; but this one is marketeers in race for margines! You probably heard expression "Money talks..." This is pure cost cutting efficiency and planned obsolessence!
BTW these cars are have passed their life expectancy!

True enough.
They are way past life their expectancy.

They are now so outdated, they are almost inexpensive.
Without too much money, or really serious wrenching.
One can usually return them, to being a very enjoyable luxury car.
That we can almost afford to own and drive

BFD. So have I. Coming up 8 years dead, already.

And my seals aren't yet leaking, either.

Why would they? Shaft has shrunk, but there no oil pressure.

Survive that easily enough off the back of zero angular velocity and total absence of reciprocation.

Beware of Medical Doctors carrying Torx wrenches, whiskey bottles with holes in the bottom, and wimmin', the reverse.

Chase older money, more Jaguars, faster wimmin'
