Default One Key stolen...Can the key be re-programmed?I

This evening we had our key to our 2004 XJ8 stolen. Can the remaining key fob/ code be re-programmed? If so how...any other advice?

Thank you for your help!

you can personally erase the remote that was stolen.. but the key will still function.. until you take it to a dealer .. and have the key erased.. but he can still get into your car by manually opening it with the key in the door barrel but he wont be able to start it..

Thanks very much jag_Genius! I'll do that. I wonder how hard it woud be to change the physical locks in the door and ignition?

For those needing more about this issue: It cost $136 to have the remaining key re-programmed and the stolen key code canceled. If we were to change the tumblers and get two additional keys, the cost may be as high as $2000, based upon the change of ignition, door and boot-lid tumblers, two new key pieces for the remaining electronic key and valet key, plus a replacement electronic key (about $450).
