OTC injector cleaner specs

Hi, I inherited an OTC fuel injector cleaner unit but there was no manual for it. I understand in that manual there are specs for what to do/remove/etc. for every car.
Does anyone have the specs for the X308 and X350 cars?
I’d like to use this item, but don’t know about what they recommend to do.
TIA. Best, Brian

Hi Brian,
If you are talking about the OTC version of the type of fuel injector cleaner that incorporates a canister that is filled with a mixture of gasoline/petrol and fuel injector cleaner and inserted into the fuel line ahead of the fuel rail, I have a set that may be very similar but not branded OTC. My set contains dozens of fittings and hoses for interfacing with the fuel systems in many different vehicles. You would simply need to depressurize your fuel system (remove the fuel pump fuse or relay and start the engine and let it run until it dies), then disconnect the fuel hose at the inlet of the fuel rail and see if you have the necessary fittings to connect the fuel injector cleaning canister to the fuel rail. Off the top of my head, the fittings on both the X308 and X350 are a quick-connect type similar to those used on Fords and other modern vehicles. Disconnecting these fittings is easier with a special tool. You can buy a set of different sizes at most auto parts stores.
You want to connect the canister to the inlet end of the fuel rail (the end the fuel line from the tank connects to), not the outlet end, where the fuel pressure regulator is installed.
Regarding what type of fuel injector cleaning fluid to use, GM/ACDelco makes a very good one designed specifically for use in this type of canister, but standard Techron is also very good if you use the concentrated form mixed at maybe 20/80 Techron to gasoline (or at the same ratio recommended for the GM/ACDelco cleaning fluid).
Once the canister is filled with the cleaner/fuel mix and connected to the fuel rail, you run the engine until the canister is empty.
Here's a video showing the OTC system in use:
Cheers,
Don
