Default Owners with iPhones & factory Bluetooth - feedback please.

Until 2 years ago I always had Motorola phones and no issues with Bluetooth. I also do not recall any issues with the iPhone 3GS. Ever since I upgraded to the iPhone 4 last year, I had intermittent connectivity issues with the factory Bluetooth. And now that I have updated to iOS 5.0 it is even worse. The phone connects but it keeps switching between the car and the handset.

Anyone else here either having similar issues or have an iPhone they can try? Dealer has no way to test. Thanks.

I just upgraded from a Blackberry Bold to an iPhone 4S and haven't had any issues with the bluetooth in the car at all. All in all iOS 5 has quite a few bugs in it and I would try to do a full reset and reload on the phone. First backup the phone to your itunes on the computer then disconnect it. Next hold down the menu button and the lock button at the same time until the screen goes completely blank, that should put the phone into recovery mode. Once in recovery mode connect it back to your computer and itunes should detect a phone in recovery mode. This will completely reload all of the firmware and os back onto your phone and make it factory fresh, just reload your backup while your going through the setup and it should be good to go. If that doesn't fix it then take a trip to an apple store and they'll most likely replace it for you if you're still under warranty.

Goodluck

Thank you for the suggestion. iPhone 4 is out of warranty, Apple is useless. I do have another iPhone 4 that I will try later today, but if the problem persists, then what?

What year is your car, I assume you have the factory Bluetooth?

I've got the same iphone 4 with iOS5. The factory bluetooth does stop connecting about once every two weeks. I've been turning off then on the iphone bluetooth and it re-pairs. I did have one instance when above did not work and I had to re-pair the bluetooth via the car. It is annoying... seems to stop working when I need it most... Murphy's Law!

One of reasons I think it is the phone is sometimes it won't let me enter the pin number. Sometimes I have to delete the car from the phone then add it again and it works fine for a while. I also have noted that if I turn off Bluetooth on the phone it won't reconnect when I turn it on again. And to reiterate it worked better before iOS 5. Apple genius bar is useless.

Mine is a 2004 but I installed the phone module and the bluetooth module myself over a year ago. I'm not sure what else you could do besides reloading iOS 4 back onto the phone

I have iPhone 4 upgraded to iOS 5 with factory BT. No problems so far.

Once every two months it would not connect at all, but it fixes itself in a few hours. It was doing that with the old iOS 4.3. I don't have 5 for that long.
