Default P0121 Intermittently

My car stalls and throws a P0121 intermittently. It hasn't happened in a couple of months but today it stalled 4 times on the way home from work but reset on a restart. I have done allot of reading including this site and if I'm not wrong I don't have an option but to purchase a new throttle body as the sensor isn't sold separately ?
I was receiving a P0105 but a mechanic friend replaced the MAP sensor (without removing the intake) which has been fine since. I found this TB on eBay but wanted to make sure this is my only option before I make the purchase. Brand NEW Genuine Throttle Body Assembly FOR Jaguar S Type Vanden Plas XJ8 | eBay

Hi PaulB, suggest you check or ask a member to check on the EPC what the part code is for your car before spending such a large amount. Just jags & britishparts were doing new x350 throttle bodies for around £100. Worth checking with them?
Post your car details & vin code.

Just looked at the xj350 obd code listing, first thing on check list is battery voltage, if it falls below 10v this code will be flagged. Other checks are two wiring ones & TP sensor failure, unlikely that these conditions would be intermittent.

Post Fixed with new TPS

Buy an new TPS Denso 1985000-3300 on eBay about $35, easy swap, two screws are crazy star bit, replace with M4 Phillips head, make sensor is in same position as old one, I traced old sensor with marker to make sure new one goes in the same spot, screw heads are the only issue. Plug and play and no more P0121.

I wish I saw your post kenknowles before hand, I'm not sure if that part would have worked for me as it said it wasn't compatible with my vehicle. I ended up replacing the TB after the car stalled about ten times in one day. The car was fine all winter but it would act up in hot weather. I'm happy that the swap worked, I haven't had any issues since. It was a very easy job except that one of the bolts fell and was never to be seen again, luckily my neighbor runs a shop out of his place and he had a bolt for me
