Default Parking Brake Cable Tension Release

I'm in a bind here. I'm replacing my rear calipers with the integrated parking brake and cannot figure out how to physically disconnect the cable from the caliper. I've got the brake disengaged, no problem there, I just can't figure how to remove the cable. The manual says to use a special electronic tool you hook up to the module but like a dunce I figured it wouldn't actually be needed, like most of the special tools the manual recommends. Ive got to get this finished today and I'm stumped. Help!

It turns out you've got to get a good grip on the end of the cable with heavy duty pliers or something and then just carefully yank it off. Once you get past the fright of damaging it, its pretty easy.
