Default Parking brake fault after changing shocks...

Any ideas why I would now have a parking brake fault after changing my front shocks last night?

You did not state the codes (if any) or the nature of the fault so i'm going to guess you had the battery off and that you need to recalibrate the EPB

1. apply wheel chocks
2. start the Engine
3. firmly apply and release the foot brake 5 times
4. apply and hold the foot brake on
5. apply the EPB using the EPB switch
6. release the EPB using the EPB switch
7. release the foot brake
8. confirm the brake warning lamp is off
9. confirm the messages "not calibrated" or "apply foot and parking brake" are no longer on the message display
10. apply foot brake
11. apply and release the EPB 5 times and confirm no error messages
12. apply epb and shutoff engine

Cheers

Wow, ok! I would not have figured that out myself.
However, I drove it to work with the fault light on, and the other message reading APPLY PARKBRAKE. When I can out of work to go home the issue has cleared and no more messages or lights!

Thank you for your quick reply and wise advise. I am new to the x350 and learning a lot!

Since you had your battery disconnected, you may need to "retrain" your windows to have the auto up/down feature. You should be able to do all 4 from the master switch. Simply put the window down, and once it bottoms hold down the button for a further 5 seconds or so. Put the window back up and do the same once it reaches the top.

Do this for each window.

That's funny. I was just noticing that the auto window function wasn't working...came in and read your post. Thank you!

Good call SaturnV. One of those "little things" that can drive you nuts the first time around. Also one you don't forget after the first time!

I'm getting the same park brake fault warning after disconnecting the battery...

I tried to recalibrate, but it didn't work... The parking brake works and releases if I put it in drive and give it some gas...

What's the problem?

I have the same issue.
I can't get the Parkbrake Fault to go away.
The parking brake works fine.

Does it "stick" somewhere?

Try scanning for codes and clearing them?

Hello 34by151,

I have a question on Calibrating Parkbrake fault.
I don't have parkbrake locked, but I have Parkbrake fault amber warning light.
I didn't disconnect the battery, when I tried your method to calibrate the EPB, on step 6, EPB won't release.
How do I scan the codes and clear them?
Do I need to go to the dealer to get it scanned?
Thank you in adavance.
