Default Parking Sensor System - Strange Behavior

We just had our Front and Rear bumpers painted on our '06 XJ8 - VDP, they look like new!

However, the Parking Sensors are active erratically. Headliner red indicator light is SOLID (whether on or off), put the car in gear - it beeps solidly for two/three seconds - then stops- light goes off when you drive away. Stop the car and the red indicator light comes on again until you take off again.

NEVER do you get a beep-beep when blocking any of the sensors (front or rear)!

I can't be sure what the paint shop did but this is strange - especially that the red indicator light goes OUT when moving!

Is this a common instance after the sensors were removed and reinstalled?

Thanks

Are you sure they were removed? Perhaps they were painted over. I've read here that they are very sensitive to being dirty or covered with detailing wax.

Fair question. I did see them off the bumper but will look into the 'dirty' point. Thanks

Did you happen to take any pics of the clips that hold the sensors to the bumper cover? I need to replace my right rear sensor and have read that it can be done by feel if the tail light is removed, but I don't want to break anything in there if it is not broken already.

GENUINE JAGUAR XJ X350 PARKING SENSOR BRACKET C2C1589 | eBay

The above seems to be the only pic on the internet but the ones on my 04 x350 looked

much more delicate. No pic though-sorry.

BTW The guy who is selling the above is,or was, on this forum.

Small world innit!

Thanks for that link. It looks like the sensors may be a press fit into the holder that is glued to the back side of the bumper cover.

I sure wish I had taken photos of the inside of the front bumper cover when I had it off; I took pics of everything but that.
