Default parking sensors troubleshooting

Hello All,

i found a good info recently about detecting faulty parking sensors.

since several weeks, i have a long beep from parking assist each time i put either D gear or Reverse. after the long beep i also got the red light above my head on the central console parking assist button.

i deducted one of my parking sensor was gone.
problem is which one ?? there are 8..
i found the following info on the web that i tested and seems working.

with engine OFF but ignition key on, you put the gear on reverse.
then you touch gently each and every sensor with your finger doing small circles on the surface.
you should feel some pulses on your finger . when you dont feel anything this means the sensor is Dead.

i will change it today and let you know

have a good day

thierry

Hi Thierry,

Another method is to place your ear close to each sensor. Working sensors produce a soft "clicking" sound. Dead sensors are silent.

Have you checked the new sensor you replaced to confirm that it is pulsing or clicking? If it isn't there may be a problem with its wiring harness.

My rear right sensor is dead so I'm going to have to follow your lead. Any tips will be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Don
