Default Parrot MKI9200 and SOT-098

I am attempting to add bluetooth to my 2004 XJR with Alpine Premium sound and nav using the Parrot MKI9200 and SOT-098 with lead extention. I took it to the shop and they were unable to get it to work. I have found 3 websites that claim this kit works with my car. Has anyone else tried to install this?

@renny

I haven't tried but from the description it sounds like it connects between the amp and the speakers, which in theory should be possible. The connection between the head unit and the amp is optical so nigh impossible to mess with, but interrupting the speaker wires should in theory be possible. I am assuming the parrot itself provides some kind of amplification as it connects after the amp... ?

When the shop said "it didn't work" what had they tried ? and what exactly didn't work as they expected it to ? I am assuming there is some circuitry inside the SOT-098 loom (probably in the connector block) that watches the mute wire and cuts off all the signals if it goes to ground. It would appear to be a 5 minute job to test the harness works, ie connect it between the amp and the speakers, connect it to 12V (battery is in the trunk, so easy), ground the mute wire and see if the sound cuts off..... If that bit works, then it's over to investigate whether the parrot is working properly or not

You are correct it was and is possible. The first place I took it had no idea what they were doing. I took it to Best Buy and they were able to get it working perfectly. I would recomend this to anyone who is looking to add bluetooth to an XJ that does not want to spend a furtune.

Default Xkr 2004

I have a XKR 2004 with alpine premium system. I have a parrot MKi9000 and the lead SOT-098, but whene the technician tryed to install them everything was fine except that no sound of the phone comes out from the car speaker. Do you have any suggestion ? I read that in some cases I need the IE5 extension cable is correct ?
