Passenger Headlight Issue.....HELP!
I searched the forum but couldn't find anything on this.
My passenger headlight went out (that I just had replaced about 8 mos ago). Anyhow, I put a new bulb in and no worky so I had another and just put that one in to make sure it wasn't a bad bulb.
Only then did I notice that the tilt-down isn't working either. When I hit the light on button on the remote the drivers light comes on and tilts down but not the passenger.
My thought is since the light is not working and the tilt down feature isn't either it must be either/or a relay or fuse issue. Does anyone know what relay or fuse?
Or is it another problem.
MUCH THANKS!
Brian

Well....found the answer and unfortunately it is the ballast unit. I pulled the relays (2) brown 40A's switched them around and same result. Checked and replaced both low beam fuses (20A). Still only drivers side comes on. The passengers side doesn't come on or dip down.
Now if I can find an easy way to pull this headlight and replace the unit without dropping the bumper. ? Suggestions?

Hi Brian,
Sorry to hear about the headlamp issue. Just starting to find out how much more sophisticated these cars are compared to the earlier models we currently have in the family. I am needing a headlamp lens for the passenger side for our newly acquired 05 XJ8. If you ultimately end up getting a new assembly and want to sell your old one, could you please PM me at dave@dmbrown.net?
Thanks much,
Dave

Ground points can be weak in this area. I've read where the screw head remains in place and nothing behind it. Check your ground. There is a thread on changing the headlight without removing the bumper but I can't locate it at he moment. It's here in the x350 section
