Default Pedal adjustment

It seems that the pedals are not responding to the adjustment knob on the steering column. Is this usually a quick fix like a fuse, or should I just pretend that the car came without the feature?

In all likelyhood there is a gear in the pedal mechanism that has fractured and jammed the movement. Not an easy fix.

I think it's time to pretend, unfortunately.

Cheers,

When the gear splits the worm drive jams on the teeth across the split into two the gear. I was successful in grinding down one tooth that provided enough clearance for the worm to then engage the next tooth. I had this problem 10k, and 6 months back and no further issues. It is a pain to working upside down getting the assembly out.

Nice job, dsetter! See, I keep saying, I love this Forum; so many folks thinking outside the box. I'm always learnin' stuff.

I know exactly what you are talking about, as long as it stays greased up, I'll bet you'll get a good bit of life out of that.

Thanks!

pearlfisher, was the adjustment working previously since you've bought the car? or never worked?

The steering column is adjustable using the switch though?

I think it worked once, and now I can hear the motor trying to adjust to the three different driving positions. The steering wheel adjustment still works.
