Default Performance of Brembo brakes

I have a 2005 XJR with the Brembo brakes. Just wondering how much better the Brembo brakes are in terms of performance compared to the standard brakes in the XJ8. Is there a noticeable difference in terms of performance and stopping power?

I've only ever driven one XJ8 without the Brembos but it was in sad shape. The brakes sucked. I CAN tell you that the Brembos on the xjr are at least as good as those on my 911 C4. I stunned my brother with the braking ability from 70-0. They are incredible.

I have driven a 2005 XJ8 Vanden Plas with standard brakes. I own a 2005 Super V8 with the Brembo brakes, same as the XJR. The Brembo brakes are far superior to the standard brakes!

Cheers!

Hi kdross,

Just out of curiosity, are you unhappy with the "grab" of the Brembos and considering a retrograde fitting of the standard XJ8 brakes?

The Brembo brakes on our '04 XJR will defy the rotational force of the Earth, and if my wife were to forget to buckle up they could launch her into orbit. Excellent brakes!

I do think our brakes are a little "grabbier" than they should be and too difficult to modulate, so I'm planning a full brake fluid flush and bleed in the near future (pads are brand new Mintex all around).

Cheers,

Don

I actually like the Brembo brakes. I do notice they tend to "bite" and "grab" when I gently apply the brakes. However, this is not a problem for me. I was just interested to know if they provided any additional performance over and above the standard brakes in the XJ8. My only complaint with the brakes is they tend to produce a lot of brake dust which is a pain to clean off the 20" wheels. However, I may switch brake pads which should help with this issue.

Default Retro fit Brembos on XJ8

I am planning on replacing the rotors and disc pads on my 2005 XJ8 VDP. I'd like to fit Brembos but cant seem to find direct replacements. Any suggestion as to where I'd find them here in western North Carolina?

I finally went with Ceramics to eliminate brake dust. The dust is minimal the brakes a little soft but if you drive at normal speeds no problem. Worth not having that dust especially on the fronts
