Default Performance exhaust 2004 XJ8 4.2L

This question might be posted elsewhere but on the X350 forum but I've not found it. I want to (just for the heck of it) replace the stock exhaust on my XJ8. Normally aspirated. Mina has a system, but what else is out there? I'm not looking for LOUD...I want Vroom. Louder than stock, but not hot rod LOUD. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I just did mine early this year

I did a set of new 200cell metal substrate cats new 02 sensors all 4 of them

Then used 2.1/4 inch down pipes out of the headers in and out of the cats to the X pipe under the floor replaced the middle muffler and changed the rear mufflers sounds awesome not loud but sounds like a V8 now even my indie commented its the best sounding XJ8 he,s ever heard

I replaced the pipes with 2.1/4 from the headers out to the x pipe
left it stock pipe diameter after the new middle muffler its 2.1/4 in with standard diameter out next time its on the hoist Ill get some pictures

sounds good doc, would love to see and hear it.

I've always wondered if anyone has removed one set of mufflers; aren't there like 4 total? (I've not looked in a while). The car is a bit too quiet for me, would like a little bit more 'V8' if I wind it out a bit.

Why not unbolting rear mufflers to see how it sounds..If you like replace them with straight pipes. With Two cats and two resonatores remaining it will likely not be that loud and not that expensive

That,s what they did to my car originally just rear mufflers sounded okay
But after my experience with my XJR6 cats are only good for so long
I just didn't want sound I wanted a power increase hence the larger diameter pipes and 200 cell cats

Default Performance Exhaust

My XJ8 has the Mina Gallery Exhaust. The sound definitely reflects a source of power from under the hood. When you put your foot into it you will be quite pleased with the controlled roar.

I just registered my xj8 in Queensland it had 12 months NSW reg on it when I bought it

I did all my mods while it was nsw reg then just took it and got a roadworthy on it and registered it in QLD no problems

the guy that owned it before me took it to a shop in Sydney and had the rear mufflers changed it had a real mellow v8 sound it's definitely louder now but also goes much better

Most rwc centres have never done a jaguar and expect a jaguar owner especially a late model owner to be pretty up to date with maintenance not to mention when you get the rwc let him know you are transferring the car and it's not for sale

Can't see it as a problem otherwise i can ask my jag mech he is in Sandgate

The original owner did the rear mufflers it's was a very mellow V8 sound
I left them on and did my own front down pipes cats and centre muffler

It's louder than when he did the rear mufflers but also goes better not a bad note though my jag specialist said it's the best x350xj8 he's ever heard loves it

No worries

I finally got the header tank fixed today and while my mechanic was revving the engine I stood behind it its actually quieter than I thought

I will try and do a recording in the next couple days
Last time I tried to record the sound from my XJR6 on the dyno all I got was distortion [LOL]
