Phone reception in XJ

Has anyone experienced or noticed diminished phone signals or interference in their XJ compared to their other vehicles? I always attributed my bad phone signals to bad coverage areas when in my '05 VDP and never questioned the car until a friend of mine noticed that every time he rides in my car, his new Iphone 4 makes a bad ticking noise while on a call. This only happens when he is in my car. I started comparing the reception in my car vs my suburban (in the same areas) and there is a noticeable difference between the two.
Maybe I should start checking for FBI bugs.

Tried a little expereiment. My Blackberry Storm2, no ticking. My wife's Blackberry 9xxx, nothing. My friends Palm Pre, nothing. My sons Android something or other, nothing. Another friends iPhone4, click, click, click. Sounds like the phone to me. He also claims he has a click in his 05 Audi A8.

Both XJs and Audi A8 have one thing in common. A body made of aluminum. I believe that mobile phone waves are not being able to escape or enter the body of the car with the same ease as aluminum tends to absorb the waves. That is my opinion and it was backed by a scientist I know (well at least he said maybe) ... what do you think?
