Default Picked XJR from front end shop.

Had most of the front end rebuilt of my 2006 XJR with 99,000 miles. The removal of all the parts showed how poor condition the original bits were in.
The drivers side lower control arm and passenger side toe adjuster were in the worst shape. The front inside bushing on the control arm had disintegrated. The rubber was gone, the bushing metal on metal. The toe adjuster about to come apart.
The ball joints on the upper arms ranged from loose to real loose. The bushings on the lower front straight arm all crumbling.
The sway bar bushings were okay, maybe not original. They were replaced, but not the frame bushings.
The tie rod ends tight, but replaced because the boots were split and cracked.
While wheels were off the lug nuts were replaced with Toyota solid nuts.
Hope get another 99k out of the car now. The suspension parts would have left me on the side of the road soon as it was.
Hopefully my car is an anomaly. And the others around same age and mileage only require a few parts to get back in top shape.

Freeways are great. Side streets can be rough. But overall Texas has very good roads.
Heat is my suspected culprit that got to the rubber items. The front curved lower arms had been replaced by a previous owner. It looked like the sway bar bushings may have been also. They looked like they could go another 99k.
Only drove it 25 miles since picking up. But feels tight and quiet. My squeak was not sway bar links. The driver side lower control arm was metal on metal. The bushing parts fell out once the arm was removed.
I would recommend anyone looking at purchasing a x350 to get it to a front end shop prior. Look closely at the boots, bushings, and links.

Labor was almost the same as parts, plus included an alignment.
Parts:
Lemforeder Rear Lower Control arms - 500.00
Lemforeder front and rear upper control arms -500.00
Lemforeder rear toe adjuster arms - 200.00
Moog Sway bar links 100.00
TRW Tie Rod Ends - 100.00
Moog Sway bar bushings 50.00
Front straight arm bushings 100.00
Labor including alignment 1300.00. So right at 3k. This was shopping eBay, Rock Auto, Parts Geek, and Amazon to find the parts. Everything was mail ordered.
The local Ford dealer wanted 1100.00 for the rear lower control arms. That was the wholesale price. I stuck with Delray Ford internet sales, 460.00 plus shipping. They are branded Jaguar SC. Spent a month gathering parts.
The only parts that did not need to be replaced were the sway bar bushings. But getting to them to evaluate, dropping front and rear sub frame, made it smart to replace anyway. Them and the frame bushings looked normal.

You got hit hard my friend. I replaced everything you did, plus a coil conversion, plus rack and pinion, plus rear end for just north of 2k.

Not an anomaly to my knowledge, mine was the same way.

Contrary to later comment you did well. parts arent cheap and youre in 4th largest city too, good labor is not cheap either.

Naso,
You got a deal. I saved about 3k by not buying the parts from Jaguar, and at least 2K on labor by not going to dealer.
I hate to think the shop hours and rate for dropping the front and rear sub frames to get to the sway bar bushings. I told them about going in from the top to change the front. But they recommended dropping the sub frame to inspect frame bushings.

To be fair, and I guess I should have mentioned, I paid little to nothing for labor. Plus I didn't do those sway bar bushings so I suppose the price isn't too bad.

I feel dumb for not switching them out because I changed the entire front suspension frame out to a new one because it was damaged.. kicking myself for not swapping them out with the motor mounts and such..

The big save was buying bushings separately and having them pressed in, and also using the Lincoln arms which were like 100$ each.

Rack and pinion was around 300$, suspension conversion was 1200 ish.

sway bar bushings are cheap and labor is 4hours, you go in from the top and sides. It is still the hardest jaguar front sway bar bushings to do however. Stype pays the same but is easier. I charge $300

To be clear, it was purely a capricious comment of pain and
not meant to be taken as any judgement as to correctness.

That seems very fair. They charged me 3.5 hours to replace the front and rear. May be easier if the control arms are removed already.

if you were on the original parts at 99k, I'm not surprised they were worn out. I understand 60k is common for replacement of the wishbones, or exchange ones with new rubber bushes. I had my front and back ones and other oddments done at about that, all were worn, one was very loose.
