Please help me pick and XJ. Down to 2 now
Here are the 2 cars. I can't make up my mind. Here are the facts. Please help me pick one. The only difference in options is that #2 has the NAV and Alpine upgrade stereo. I am leaning to #2, but #1 is so nice and I could install an aftermarket Nav unit in it for about $1k.
CAR #1
2004 XJ8, 73k miles, non-nav, base radio. Pacific Blue Metallic / Beige Interior, Perfect outside and inside, 3 owner, carfax clean, no maintenance history last 40k miles. Tires 1/2 worn. Repossessed vehicle. $13,000.
pros:
-favorite ext / interior combo
-very clean
-lower miles
-non smoker car
cons:
-no maintenance history last 40k miles
-3 owners, last one deadbeat no maintenance and repoed
-transmission had very small area with light oil spot, but not dripping
-NO navigation
-tires 1/2 worn (vibration while driving needed balancing)
-No Tint
CAR #2
2004 XJ8, 85k miles, NAV/ Alpine upgrade radio. Black / Dove Interior, Perfect outside and inside minor flaws, 1 owner, carfax clean, religious mainteance history every 3 to 5k miles Tires new. Brakes new, battery new $12,900.
pros:
-smoother driving (probably cause of tires)
-NAV and Alpine
-New Tires
-New Tint
-New Battery
-felt better driving
-non smoker car
-spotless underneath
cons:
-Black is high maintenace. Dove (light grey) color interior does not go well with black
-mileage
-steering wheel leather worn
-dime sized hole in carpet in rear from cig lighter burn
-Trunk lid has some scratches (very minor, but through to paint)

I thought this car was black when I looked at it yesterday (overcast skies). After I bought the car today, when the sun came out, I discovered it is actually "Midnight Metallic". Very Dark Grey Metallic. I like that even better, than just plain black. The sun gave it a really cool look. It has Dove interior. I am pretty impressed with the Alpine Stereo. It is good enough for me!

I remember after driving my Xj8 for 2 weeks, I went to sell my Hyundai - I thought the engine was working only on 2 cilinders.
Unfortuntely, now I'm used to it and I'm eying an XJR.

A little more challenging is an understatement. Parking is one of the downfalls on this car; especially if you're use to a smaller car like I am. The hood and lousy steering radius make for a less-than-ideal car for the parking lot. I love how the mirrors turn in with remote.

Also when parking, if you have HID's, you'll notice that if you park head-in to the wall, that there is a ring of light from the HID's that gets smaller as you get closer to the wall, I can park my car with 2" of clearance, using the "HID ring"! Practice a bit and you'll see what I mean....
