As far as longevity - depends on service history. If the car was serviced properly, yes - if not and you get things spec'd back up - probably.
Biggest concern with the drive train is the trans. Jaguar touted the trans as "sealed for life" - thats BS so, if you have no service history backing up a fluid/filter change and the car is over 50K miles start there.
You can use Mercon SP or the original LG6 fluid, get a legit ZF filter pan and also have the mechatronic sleeve swapped out.

Also, take it to a Trans shop specializing in Euro cars.
