Default Power steering pump line not screwing in

I'm wondering if anyone has had this possible before. I installed the power steering pump. Hand tightened the metal tube into the pump and then was turning with a wrench. All of a sudden it came loose and will now no longer thread back into the pump. The threads look fine. Any ideas? Did I break my steering pump?

Perhaps the male fitting is not quite lined up. Try wiggling the tubing slightly as you thread the male fitting by hand.

That pipe will have an olive at the end of it.

You will need to push the pipe in hard and screw in

at the same time.

What do you mean by olive? The part that gets wider? I'll try pushing harder on the pipe and turning. Doesn't help they freaking give me 2 inches of space.

I hate to say it but but it sounds like the thread may have striped in the pump.

Hmmmmm.................Say, is that an OEM power steering pump which you are installing? I may be going off on a limb here, but I don't suppose the threads for that particular power steering pump are metric, English, European metric, or whatever threading that doesn't match up with the male fitting? You know, I changed the brake master cylinder to a 1978 Cadillac Coupe DeVille once, and the cylinder had an English thread at the front port, and a metric thread at the rear port. Actually, I wound up replacing part of the brake line going to the rear port as the original male fitting had an English thread.

Well it was just extremely difficult to get into the threading. i did have to push quite hard with the limited space on the line into the pump while also attempting to screw it in. took me about 20 tries, busted knuckles and 45 minutes of work but finally got it to screw in there. Thankfully they weren't stripped out. Thanks y'all for your posts.

Ah the old you need fingers 2ft long with 4 extra joints in them and the strength of Hercules.
