That is a pity about the harness. There was an 04 xj8 at the pull a part, about 35 miles away from me about two months ago, but it appears to be gone now. There is another one at LKQ pull apart in Santa Fe Springs, CA production number G20500, but it is a little far for me and I won't be heading that way any time soon. I wonder if they'd pull it for you. When the right car pops up near me I will be going to get some other stuff, so I'll check in with you and see if you still need it. Also I could pull the FEM for you too. I am looking for an XJR so I can pull the brakes and ancillaries. There is an XJR about an hour and half away from me, but it has now been two months and I doubt any of the parts I want are still available or in good enough shape. It popped up over christmas and I didn't have time to go out there.
Here is the XJR about 1.5 hours away from me. This just kills me.
Sad, that no one thought it worthwhile to save that black XJR.
Today I ran a wire from the fused side of fuse 7 (5A) and ran it up the A-pillar and spliced it into the red sunroof enable wire.
fuse 7 is only live when the the ignition key is in pos 1, 2 or 3.
So now my windows work from the switches if the ignition is on and the Global Open/Close works once the ignition is off.
It's not ideal but it's a solution for now.
On thinking some more on this, I realized that the red Enable wire is not getting enabled due to 3 possibilities:
1. The FEM is bad
2. The enable wire from the FEM to the point where it splits 5 ways is broken
3. The FEM is not receiving all the correct inputs it needs for the logic to send the signal/
Of these, 3 seems to be the most likely. But what are the inputs that determine whether the FEM sets the Enable live?
a) Obviously it needs 12v - it has that because it performs its other functions.
b) It must sense the ignition switch in pos 1,2 or 3
c) ??? Is there anything else that it needs so it can say "Yep, make the windows active"
I think I must be missing something. Jacuar already determined that you don't have to be in the car.
Is there any other security input or some sensor, some lock setting that must also be present? (That's missing on my car)

Reason: Clarification
Fuse 1? Why fuse 1? This is "Climate control, fan screen heaters and wiper relay coils, smog sensor"
What's the connection to the windows?
and mine is good anyway.
I can't tell. My cheap generic code reader doesn't show any.
My Foxwell NT510 with the Jaguar software loaded won't interact properly with the OBD.
I used it when I had my XKR and it functioned just fine, reading the VIN and showing all the codes, but with this car it can't even recognize the VIN, and when I try to read codes it just spins endlessly with no result.
Not sure if this is of any use to you, but I had a guy bring a Vauxhall to me that had electrical problems. I then had connection problems with my Foxwell NT644 which turned out to be a blown fuse to the OBD port, However, even then, it would not read if I did a full vehicle scan, but it would read individual modules, so i could read every module one at a time, I traced wires to and from the fuse boxes and found some shorted wires associated with the can bus, these shorted wires meant that the various control modules, although working individually, could not communicate with eachother through the can bus, this in turn meant that each module thought other modules had failed and threw up codes in an attempt to point out a problem, which just meant I was being led down the wrong path. I eventually managed to repair as much damaged wire as I could find, but the car still left with a couple of electrical problems, one being the drivers door window would only move an inch at a time until it was either fully up or fully down.
Thanks for the CAN bus short idea.
I gave up on the Foxwell. Their tech support didn't even bother to respond.
I bought an after market Mongoose cable and SDD software and now I can read codes.
On the FEM there is only:
B2496 - Anti theft horn circuit - short to ground
B2319 - Passenger's exterior rear view mirror vertical feedback potentiometer low
B1504 - Bank C - motor 2 - speed/position sensor
There's 5 other B codes B2372, B2371, B2196, B2307, B2023 but they all have "No description available"
Now I can also see that my ACC module has an internal failure B1342. Sigh!!
I have not had any problems with my foxwell NT644...yet..., but I would really like to get the SDD setup, just everywhere I look it's expensive,
I had a quick search online and came up with these as possible descriptions for those codes:-
B2371, Rear Seat Heaters, LH rear seat heater switch signal circuit fault
B2372, Front Seat Heaters, RH seat heater switch signal circuit fault
B2196, Jaguar Passenger Window Up / Down Power Circuit Short to Ground
B2307, not showing anything for that
B2023,Interior Lighting Rear courtesy and footwell lighting drive circuit fault
I bought a cloned version of the cable that came with SDD version 159.
I installed it on an old Windows 7 64bit laptop and it functioned first time.
It cost around $45
There are some limitations but for reading and clearing codes and service functions it seems to work fine.
The major expense of the SDD setup, would be using a genuine Mongoose cable.
Seems many have had great luck with the cloned cables, even flashing modules.
