Problem with glove compartment door
This is not really a big deal, but I thought I'd see if someone out there could help me fix this. I have an 2008 XJ and couple of months ago I noticed that my AC had a musty smell, so I got a product to fix it. There are different ways to go about this, but I wanted to do the one where you spray a foam cleaner, and disinfectant directly into the AC evaporator to clean of the coils in there. I tried to do it myself, but could not figure out a way to get to the evaporator. I had purchased the product already, so I went to a place that had done some work on another car I have as I liked the mechanic and he did it for me at no charge. Anyway, the way that he had to go to get to the evaporator was from inside the car on the passenger side from under the glove compartment. I don't know how you do that, and I wasn't watching him, but that's the way he did it. Although whatever he did didn't take that long, and I don't think that he took anything apart to do this, but I may be wrong. I noticed a week or so later when I went to get into the glove compartment that when I pushed the button the glove door just came down hard. The way it did before, and the way it is supposed to work is when you push the button it opens, but just kind opens a little and just balances there. There has to be something there that this guy disconnected that is making it do this. I took a quick look without really getting into it too much, but couldn't tell. It may not be a big deal, but I feel like when it's closed that there is a lot of pressure from the weight on the latch because like I said when you hit that button the door lust falls down heavy. Also, I have the glove box filled with CDs so that is where the weight comes from. Anyway, does anyone know what the problem might be?
