Default Programming Key Fob To Start Engine

I have had my 2005 Jaguar XJ8L key fob programmed to unlock/lock my vehicle and have had it cut at Jaguar. The only thing is the key will not start the car. When I put it in accessory position, all of the lights come one like they are supposed to, but the vehicle will not start. We do, however, own a valet key that does start the car. How to we program the car to start the ignition? One other thing to note is that there is a flashing red light in the security center where it only normally beeps red when locked. But it does it constantly only when this new key is inserted into the ignition ant turned to accessory.

Welcome to the forum halwarlick,

Did you have the key cut AND programmed at Jaguar? If not, it needs to be programmed to the vehicle on the dealer SDD diagnostics or by an independent with similar level diagnostics.

If you did have both done by Jaguar, take the vehicle and key back to the dealership and give them a really hard time.

Check in the 'How To' at the beginning of this there are 3 articles on how to program, the 'everything you needed to know' the best one IMHO. You should be able to re-program the engine immobilizer if you have an existing key (Valet) .

Easiest way to do this would be find a locksmith / key-cutting place that does tibbe keys, most decent places will be able to clone the transponder chip in your working key into the new one.

But I don't quite understand this...

You got a new key cut by a Jag dealer, they programmed the new remote, but didn't check that the key actually started the car. In that case i'd be taking it back (with all three keys, they will need them) and tell them to finish the job you paid them for...
