Default Question about front left strut

I've been searching for the better part of two days. So far I haven't found the answer I've been looking for. Please forgive me for asking!

Since I acquired the XJR I've noticed that after driving the car and shutting it down, I hear a hissing sound (air being released) from the front left tire area.

Is this normal or is my air strut dying?

Thanks,

BlacXJRcat.

30 minutes after you park the car, it is normal for it to hiss and settle about an inch. It is only after a delay, and only lasts about 10 seconds.

If you have a hiss as soon as you park it, the air bladder in the strut is leaking. You will need to replace the strut if that is the case. It is also good practice to replace the other side at the same time, so you are sure the suspension works symmetrically.

Arnott makes the most cost effective struts, and they'll run about $900 for a pair. Other options are used struts (not really recommended unless you plan to ditch the car soon), or a rebuilt strut (also through Arnott). Some owners are switching to coil springs, if you are not picky about the factory "sofa" ride.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it is immediate after I park the car which is bad news for me then.

I honestly don't care much for the floaty ride the air suspension provides. I'm used to firmer suspension setups and prefer them.

Regarding the conversion kits, I wonder what is the vehicle set height for these and if they are adjustable. I would like a low stance.

The car can exhaust immediately after parking. If the hiss is coming from the front left bumper, that is the exhaust valve on the compressor.

Yes. It is coming from that location. Hopefully that is the case. Thanks.

Unfortunately the coil conversion kits for our cars are non adjustable. I wish they were. I'd definitely have my car sitting lower if they did have the feature.
