Question Rack and Pinion inner tie rod removal

I have a 1992 XJ6 4.0L that I have pulled the rack and pinion out of to rebuild. What gives on the gimbal removal. I see the tang that I moved out which is all I can see that would be holding it from turning. It ha has a hole going through with no pin in it. Somehow I think that is the trick but do not want to gilflirt the threads. Right or left hand thread? I have looked everywhere for a rebuilt one and days or weeks out. I have the kit and am pretty experienced with hydraulics, just do not want to score or ruin anything in the process. This is the 4 bolt skewed mount rack. Do the mounts have to be removed and if so... Thanks for any info that helps!
