I am working on a 2005 XJR. My radiator fan will click and move a little, but will never start spinning, even as my temp gauge rises above normal.

I am guessing that since the fan is clicking it is getting power, anyone delt with this before or have any ideas?

 

Try replacing the relay with one of the others temporarily.

and I don't think you can get inside without damaging it.

How does the coolant temperature behave?

 

Thanks meirion1 for the suggestion! Would you happen to know which relay controls the radiator fan? I have attatched the only diagram i have been able to find on 2005 XJs and it says the radiator fan relay is f35 80a, although this does not look to be a relay and has no resistance.

I have removed the radiator fan, is there a way to give it power just to see if the motor still works? There are 2 plugs for the fan, I think 1 is for power and 1 is for speed.
