Default Radio issue

Any help that's available for diagnosing a problem with the radio. The radio stopped working but it shows that the system is on and the volume control is active no sound from the speakers though. Is a 2008 VDP with Premium audio system. I have checked the fuses in the fuse box and all are fine

Hi Paul,

I think the Premium audio system might have an amp that outputs the sound to the speakers. I think the basic sound system powers the speakers from the head unit in the console. If it has got an amp then test it's got power and working? Hopefully someone with some more experience of the audio system and can confirm this as this is an area of the car I haven't had any issues with yet.

If it has an amp then I guess it's going to be in the boot/trunk area near the other audio equipment.

Thanks,

Chris

A common fault that usually resolves on it own.

Cause unknown AFIK.

Possibly fibre optic problem.

Happened to me twice in 10 years.

Is it like that permanently, or is it okay again next time you start the car (overnight, say) ?

If it's the latter then like Meirion says they do that occasionally; I've had it a two, possibly three, times in six years. Just switch off completely (take the key out even), count to five, start up again.

OTOH If it's all the time ... err ... dunno.

At times you would think we still have Lucas on our cars.
