Default Rain Sensor Sensitivity

In my opinion the sensitivity of the rain sensor on the Jaguars, and most other cars for that matter, is set too light. The wipers will swipe when there are just a few drops of rain on the windows. This creates a lot of friction on the wiper blades and I feel will speed up their wear.

Is there any way to decrease the sensitivity of the rain sensor? I know I can adjust the speed by moving the switch out of auto mode, but I am looking for a way to adjust the sensitivity of whatever senses rain on the windscreen.

I must agree with that in relation to an XJ8L and two XK8's I've had fitted with rain sensing wipers. I generally leave this switched off as it wipes the screen when it is too dry and leads to scratching.

On the X350, within the wiper and washer system the following features are available:

1. adjustable interval intermittent wiping
2. programmable wash and wipe sequencing
3. autolamp activation
4. moisture sensitive wiping

The system and features are centrally controlled by the Front electronic module (FEM).

In addition, the Rain Sensor behind the rear view mirror .........

........ is controlled through the Rain Sensor Module under the Parcel Shelf.

A lot of electronic wizardry to play with there!
