Default Random/Inconsistent Intermittent Wiper operation

Everytime I put my wipers on any intermittent wiper duration besides auto, it seems to just wipe the windscreen randomly and it does not matter what position on the stalk is selected.
The durations dont seem to correlate to the settings on the stalk..
Auto wipers seem to work fine, its just the intermittent durations that dont seem to work correctly.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

There have been problems with the wireing in stalks ( the lights stalk.)

Apparently the wires are crammed in there. The stalks are easy to change, it's like a cartridge.

I have not done it myself, it's what I have read on this forum.

Search this forum for more info if you wish ( I use Google rather than the search function on here.)

I would try a replacement (used) wiper stalk.

My 05 XJR did something similar. The wiper blades would ramdomly creap up. I replaced the wiper switch stalk. Problem gone.

Mine does exactly the same thing, would like to know if changing the stalk fixes it for you.
