re program remote control
Hola everyone. I have a little problem with the remote, the bottons after so many years of use they stop working , stop making that click noise. So i changed them my self testeted them and click put it back together but it just worked for a while and just stop working. a friend of mine told me that needs to be reprogrames with the car. I checked some videos but they are for older models. i have a 2004 jaguar xjr supercharged with 137261 miles that i purchased from a used car dealer 5 years ago . it has some other isues that ive been fixing with the time. does anybody knows how to reprogram the remote? some videos say that turn the key four times and do the lightss 4 times and this and that!.. and nothing works. please help. thank you!

Hi kabu XJR,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.
It is sometimes possible to clean the gold contacts on the circuit board with a pencil eraser and wipe the contacts and backs of the conductive rubber buttons with denatured alcohol or zero-residue electronic cleaner. However, the buttons do eventually wear out and cleaning may not be able to resusciate them. The last time I looked, you could purchase replacement key fobs on eBay, transfer your cut key and transponder over to the new fob, and program the fob to your car. I am attaching a document with a lot of information about the fobs and programming written by one of our members (I wish I could remember which one - perhaps he will chime in so we can give him credit).
In the meantime, please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST and post a required introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.
Cheers,
Don
