rear console
yes take a flat tip ,and gently remove the plastic trim around the display case, this will reveal two upper and lower torque screws, once you remove them ,and presto the control will lift up..it will have two connections to it...unplug and its out...good luck

here's a pic of the console. I tried what you posted but the trim, if this is the right model you're talking of, doesn't want to budge. I don't want to break or mark the trim and I'm scared to apply too much preasure. Pls advise.
For anyone following this mod, it works. The power suply needed for it is in the boot - right side - behind the rear light - under the boot trim - black 3 pin plug with black / brown / red-white wires. red-white = switched +, brown = live and black = ground. attaching here will not affect any of the cars elec or comp systems. It is a dedicated accessory connector.

912guy's instructions sound correct, now I have looked at your pics, but sometimes the effort involved varies, and also knowing where it clips in helps, so if you're nervous, its main dealer time or maybe an independent like Dave Marks in Derby, or XJK Jaguar in Newcastle-under-Lyme, but you may have an indy near you.
