Rear Fog Lights

In germany, fog lights must be activated when sight is less then 50m. If sight is only 50m, you are only allowed to drive 50 km/h.
This "deadly" combination is used by cops. If you had your fog lights on at "normal speed", you either are guilty of speeding or illegal fog lights engagement.
This helps a lot arguing with people, that claim their fog lights are ok.

I'm unsure about fog lights being illegal in any country, but for example for you and I living in NZ, running fog lights when there isn't fog is technically illegal due to their upward lighting angle being difficult for oncoming drivers. (not that there is enough enforcement manpower for such things). But the car systems don't identify if fog is present, so that can't be written into the control module operating parameters.
I have had to repair the mountings of my LED fog lights, as at the last inspection, one had a slightly upward angle of beam. I understand that fog lights must not light above a 5 degree downward from horizontal. I measured mine against a board at a distance from the car. The original mountings were by self-tapping screws into plastic, which were very weak. I replaced them by 4mm riv-nuts (nutserts) and stainless steel screws. This, of course is on an X358, which is of a different design to the X350.

Hi Pete,
Nice job on that repair!
Just checked.....LTSA rules stipulate front fogs are to be dipped no less than 3 degrees for the main portion of the beam.
They always look like they are pointing a bit up to oncoming traffic.....I guess that is the result of a bit of light spill-over from the lens efficiency.
JaguarNZL,
I didn't have much luck getting my fog switch assembly to pop out. Too many clips to simultaneously activate with my fingers struggling to get the one next to the ignition switch.
Had several goes at it on Sunday...just could seem to dislodge.
