Default Rear Seat Controls

Hi All,

Got the XJ Portfolio, back seats have electronic adjustment for forward and backwards, and the right side can adjust the from passenger seat.

This appeared to stop working, Jaguar said it was the module, which they replaced under warranty, however when i got the car home, it was not working again, next day I remembered that I locked the windows because the kids were in the car, so tried that, and would you know, when i lock the windows the seats wont adjust in the back. Is this normal????

Jaguar are coming out tomorrow to check, haven't told them about this yet, but wanted to check if this is normal or not, I would think not, but you never know.

Thanks in advance.

Well, it might be normal, as in stopping the kids playing around with everything they shouldn't ! That or a design mistake in the electrical system.

In my X350 with the electric rear seats, putting on child mode on the driver door switch pack will disable the rear seat controls, windows, and rear AC controls.

+1 on what Dave said.

I was busy cleaning the interior one day and thought I would adjust the rear seats, they would not move. Realised the button in the window switchback disabled more than just the windows, a sigh of relief breathed!

Hope your problem is the same.

I had not realised that either, when I got my Super V8 the rear nearside seat controls would not work, the car went in to my dealer for a service and a few other things I wanted done after buying it . They tested the module and did a reset on the seat controls, that sorted the issue and been fine ever since ( and cost me nothing to sort )

The strange thing is, the Lumber support works, just the head rest and seat adjustment not working.

I believe the lumbar support is hard wired as it is not controlled by the memory modules for the front or rear seats.

As the owners manual states, and my own experience:
The window disable button switches off the rear seats and all passenger windows.
It seems that the dealer owes you an explanation why they don't know the car, and just throw parts at it, someday at YOUR expense.
