Default Rear suspension part number confirmation

I looked through all the listings on the subject and concluded that the rear L and R Upper Control Arms and the L and R Rear Lower Control Arms are the same as those in the Lincoln LS and Thunderbird.

These Ford/Lincoln part numbers are:

Left Upper CA -- 6W4Z-5500-AB;
Right Upper CA -- 6W4Z-5500-AA;
Left Lower CA -- 6W4Z-5A648-B; and
Right Lower CA -- 6W4Z-5A648-A.

Tasca has these parts and a reasonable price. For Toe Adj Link and Rear Stabilizer Bar Links it appears FCP has the best prices.

Can a member confirm before I place my order?

kg74;

I do not have any experience using these parts but out of general interest I Googled for the part numbers you listed. I was unable to get hits on the Lower are pn's.
Using the Tasca site I believe you have a digit wrong in the pn. I believe the correct number for the 2004 Ford Thunderbird rear lower control arms are: 6W4Z-5A649-B and 6W4Z-5A649-A.

Again my disclaimer.... I have no experience using these parts.

Best Regards, William

Thank you William for your help. You are correct on those numbers. I transcribed them incorrectly. Regardless the lower control arm part numbers, as corrected, will not fit a 2004 X350.

The upper arms are suppose to be the same regardless of year and VIN.

BUT - the lower control arms are different. From VIN G00442 to G41511 the lower arms differ from those post G41511. The early VIN group uses the same lower arm as the 2002 and before Lincoln LS (based on my readings). After said VIN a different arm is used and people that purchased the LS arm mentioned did not get it to fit (these people used the MOOG part equivalent).

The VIN number range was taken from the Berkshire Jag Component web site - so future readers that is where I am getting the information.

I will order up some parts and update.

I made that mistake. Had to shave a little to get the rear lower arm to fit. The saddle was too wide. Trimmed the aluminum enough with Sawsall.

What did you shave, the lower arm?

If so, then they will fit with some modifications.

Yes, the lower arm. The round end was just a little too wide to fit in mount. Used a Sawsall to cut a 1/4” off to allow a snug fit.
I was so happy with the Motorcraft lower arms. They were under 300.00 then. Jaguar is cast into them.
It is soft aluminum, took maybe 5 minutes to modify. They look identical to the arms on the vehicle.

Then the same parts will fit, with a little massaging, that's great news.

As i like to have parts on hand before they are needed.

There are two sets of upper rear arms on the shelf, will now look for lowers to match.

I did not replace the front lower UCA. Rebushed the straight Arm and the previous owner had replaced the curved arms. They were still shiny. Those seem to be Jaguar only. The Ford front lower are completely different.

Already been there, up front, the rear suspension is still in decent shape so not yet replaced.

Was hesitant to purchase the lower rears for the shelf if they are different, but if they can be adapted to fit, then no issues.

A heads up. Partsgeek has Lemforder rear lowers for less than 260.00 each. These should not require shaving and are cheaper than the Motorcraft.

I based my purchase of the rear lowers on this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...l-arms-166673/

I ordered AC Delco Professional arms - for the pair for about $290 w tax and shipping from Rock Auto. Hope they fit. I didn't know about the modification technique, but these are cheaper and should fit out of the box.

The upper arms I ordered the pair from Village Ford, MI for about $242 shipped.

The rest of my order FCPEuro - Toe Adj Link and Rear Stabilizer Bar links - about $225.

The Toe Adj Link and Rear Stabilizer Bar links are actually fine, but the boots are knackered. I will measure these and source replacement boots and post what I find. Keep these as back ups.

I emailed the Berkshire place and never received a reply. I will follow up with results once the parts all arrive.

Well i ordered a set of Moog rear lowers for a 2002 Lincoln LS, for my 04 XJ8, for $ 318 delivered.
The ones to fit my 07 are a bit different, & that the ones for the 06 LS will fit it.
If so when a set for an 06 LS are that cheap i'll buy them.

Default Not cheap

Parts geek has Lemforder brand rears for under 260.00 each.
These are for your Jag. Should fit fine.
The Moog may be Lemforder also. The Motorcraft are.
Jaguar is cast into the arms on the Lemforder parts.

The parts arrived and I have most of them installed. Tomorrow I will finish up and bring it in for an alignment.

I can confirm that the upper arms purchased from Village Ford in Dearborn, MI fit. Info: (6W4Z*5500*AB ($120.84))+ (6W4Z*5500*AA ($120.74))+(Shipping $16.40). [Ford part stamped with Jaguar]

The lower arms purchased from Rock Auto for a 2001 Lincoln LS fit. These were AC Delco Professional with Limited Lifetime Warranty. Info: (AC Delco Part# 45D10250($127.99))+((AC Delco Part# 45D10249 (127.99))+ (11.99 Ship)+ (20.16 tax)=$288.13. [Quality seems solid, but time will tell].

I will try to get measurements for replacement boots once the car is operational and the garage is cleaned up.

Ok after rereading again, Panelhead spoke about shaving 2000-2002 lowers to fit later models of our Jaguars.
Just where does the shaving need to happen???
As i picked up a set of early LS lower rear arms for the 04.
Probably should get another set, the later ones are twice the price.

Maybe I am screwed up. If the look like the Jaguar and have Jaguar cast into the arm they are whatI used. It has been four years, I think it was the air strut mount. The arms I got from Delray Ford were not identical even though they looked the same.
Sawzalled about a 1/4” off the outside of mount to all the saddle to go over. The aluminum cuts easy.
Just like the front strut bushings I am fighting today, did not find this out until bolting it all back together.

I'm speaking of the lower rear arms, 2000-2002 LS supposed to fit the 04 XJ8's.
Modified, or cut, to fit the later models.

I looked up my eBay purchase from Delray Ford.
6W4Z5A649AA
6W4Z5A649AB
Had to shave the opening for the air strut. Those Fords and Lincoln’s did not have air struts.

So the 2000-2002 LS should fit the 07, as well as the 04, just like the uppers?
If thats the case i need to order another set, only ordered one.

OK Panelhead, you ordered the later years lower rears, after running the numbers.
You had to widen the opening for the shock to fit.
So as long as order the early ones they should fit.
I sure hope so, because i just ordered another set of rear lowers.
This time A C Delco Professional # 45D10249, & 45D10250 for $283.19 delivered.
