Default Rear wheel bearings play cause a knocking sound and replacement?

Hi All! When driving over bumps I get this wobbling sound. I've replaced most of my front suspension parts so I don't think the noise is from there. I checked the exhaust and it is secure. I was able to wobble the right rear wheel by grabbing the hub and rocking it back and forth gripping it from the three and nine o'clock positions. I figure moving a millimeter or two? I'm thinking this could be the cause of the wobble noise. Has anyone else heard this kind of noise and was it attributable to the rear wheel bearing? They seem like a PITA to replace so really trying to narrow this down before embarking on this job or spending the money to have a shop do the work. Has anyone with bad rear bearings on the XJ / XJR heard this kind of noise? I hear no grinding or any other noise from the wheel. The bolt holding the hub in place looks tight but could I was thinking maybe I should try tightening it? Or is that a bad idea?

One thing to also check out is the condition of the bushings on the rear lower control arms. On both of my rear lower control arms the smaller bushing had extensive play (basically the rubber connection had fully broken).

Thank you. I will check that.

The rear lower wishbones are a well-known part that suffers wear of the bushes. The Lincoln LS uses similar, or even the same, wishbones, and these are about half t he price of the parts from a main agent.
Have a look here, (a UK supplier): -
https://www.berkshirejagcomponents.c...s-c102x2777200
They ship to the USA
Note that you can separately buy the bushes that fail, but you must be VERY careful pressing in and out, because unlike the front suspension parts, these are cast aluminium and you could initiate a crack leading to catastrophic failure. That is why most shops won't replace bushes, only the full arm, due to legal liability issues

Thank you. Yes, for that reason I'd buy the arm assembly rather than bushings. Just not worth the time, aggravation and stress.

Wow! Those prices are stunning! I've already replaced all of my front suspension arms, may now just do all of the rear ones as well.

Knocking was caused by a worn transmission mount.

Interesting. Seems multilink suspensions mean there are multi points that can fail.
