Hi, my 2005 XJR just came out of the workshop after extended leave. While the car was in the workshop, I did have the rear parcel shelf changed as the rear window blinds were not working. I just noticed that the entire lower half of the rear windscreen demister doesn't seem to be working. The upper half appears to be OK. I'd like to ask if anyone knows if the rear screen demister has two sets of power connections,one set for the upper half and another for the lower half? My mechanic thinks that it's just the usual old age damage to such demisters causing the lower half not to work but in all my past experience usually such damage results one one or two lines not functioning and not the entire lower half (many lines not functioning from the middle of the screen downwards).

Does anyone have any experience or information about whether my demister problem may just be a simple lower half connection that's been disconnected or is it likely to be a break in the demister wiring that may need a new rear screen?

I would bring it back to the workshop that performed the work and let them sort it out.

 

Unfortunately they believe that it's due to a break in the demister wiring, which of course happens in old cars. It's just that whenever I see such breaks, it's always one line that's affected, and not half the screen suddenly. Hence, trying to do my homework first to see if the car indeed has two power supplies to the rear demister, one for the upper half and one for the lower half that can account for this......
