Angry RECOMENDED: Fuel pump replacement for 2004 VDP XJ8?

Of all the different types of replacement fuel pumps for the 2004 VDP XJ8 which one is the most popular, works well, value for money etc..?
I have spent all day on the internet and I am totally confused!!
The " Delphi" FG1712 looks good at RockAuto for $398, but who knows...Recommendations PLEASE

Also while we have the tank open do we need to replace the LHS Sender unit?? My Jag mechanic thinks its a good idea, but its another $350??

Correct, OEM is Pierburg. Unfortunately I cannot tell you the part no. for the NA engines, though, because mine is the supercharged version that has different pumps.

I've had good luck with Delphi pumps in other cars, should be just fine. As far as replacing the other unit, why bother unless there's an issue? They're easy enough to get to. I could see if you had to drop the tank it might make sense to just do everything.

Only replaced the fuel pump itself, on my 04.
The Delphi kit, cost about $30.
It had a plug & play wiring harness included.
That made connecting things,very easy

I believe my Jag Mechanic is going to drain all the gas out the tank and then pull it out enough to fit the fuel pump. He suggested while the tank was out enough to replace the LHS at the same time?
The car is a 2004, nearly 20 yrs old and the mileage is 80K
Many thanks for your information!

Why would he drain gas and move the tank at all? Pumps are easily removed from the top of the tank under the seat.

87LC2 is giving you good info.
You could do the work yourself in an afternoon, or over a weekend.
Your Jaguar mechanic needs to look at the shop manual, or the computer.

OK, just to confirm, I can remove the rear seat in my 2004, xj8 vdp and just remove the fuel pump and the LHS sender by just lifting them out, obviously after removing the metal clamps? There is no need to cut out any holes as I have seen in some notes for the XK series?
Does anyone have any photos of the top of the tank with the seat removed?

Thank you all so much for your insight and information, it is very much appreciated!

Yup, just pull them out. Nice interior! Can't say I've ever seen read leather in an x350, pretty cool.
