Both of my front air struts/shocks are making noise. The Jaguar dealer says it is a loose plate in the upper assembly of the air struts. He says it is not a safety or tire alignment/wear concern, but it is an annoyance because of the noise. Another dealer said the same thing. My cat has 70K on it, so I probably should be replacing the struts anyway, and I want return to a quiet luxury ride (rather than the rattling clunks whenever there is an imperfection in the road). The Jaguar dealer wants too much for this. The local Lincoln dealer has lots of experience with replacing air struts and can do it for one third the price of the Jaguar dealer (about $1200 per corner versus $4700). But I want to make sure I am getting quality parts. So, what brand air struts do you recommend? Any other advice? Thanks much!

Thanks jaxkr. At this time, I am not looking to convert to steel... but I'll keep this in mind. A little over a year ago, I recall casually reading through these forums about an aftermarket air shock/strut. I can't recall the manufacturer, but I recall it started with an A. The price was a fraction of the Jag OEM price and people were saying good things about its quality. Does ayone else know about them?

Jaguar air shocks 2004-2010 with complete instruction manual

 

I put on front shocks from Arnotts. They went on fine and work well. They have a lifetime warranty so that is good. Using these saved about $1500 with doing the work myself. I like those numbers, I hate to pay premium for things unless there is value to it. I don't see the value of using the original $1000 shocks (at Jpam) with a one year guarantee and sure failure at around 60K.
