Recommended code reader & tool for X350
Hi guys,
sorry for starting yet another thread on the same topic but I've been browsing multiple threads created across the years and maybe some new solutions arose since that time. What code reader is currently (in your opinion) the best that can access all the modules of X350 (reading from CCM, ASM etc.)? My car is X350 4,2 MY2004.
I have seen some good reviews of iCARSOFT LR (though I don't know whether to buy used V2.0 or should I go with V3.0) or Foxwell NT 510? What is you opinion on those solutions?
I have read plenty of opinions to go with the SDD + cable but the original seem to cost s**t load of money for just a cable and the whole setup is rather not portable (requiring power supply as well as dedicated laptop). I was thinking about buying the ripoff from britishdiagnostics as I would use it anyway most probably only for simple tasks such as adjusting the suspension height and rather stay away from programming modules as such but still.... It would have to stay at home garage and I would have to buy power supply not even knowing if I would be capable of fiddling with the SDD. I don't know if that would be a good idea but maybe?
Would be greatful if you would post some comments about your devices that you're using!
Take care,
Bart

I have icarsoft LR2 and bought the SSD solution and I am very tech savvy but never got it to work. The software IIRC needs windows XP or windows vista. My laptop is win10 (now 11). The icarsoft solution does everything that I want it to do. It can read all codes and provide real time data. But what it cannot do is program car specific features like a SSD.
A cheaper solution is a Bluetooth capable ELM327. I also have one from amazon to diagnose Engine Control Module codes.

Thanks for the reply. I'll be looking at offers with this Foxwell or iCarsoft v3.0 hoping model year 2004 of X350 would be fully supported by them. Always there is an option to return device
By the way, would a clone SDD cable from idk, even britishdiagnostics be enough to calibrate the height of suspension or even for this task it is not trustworthy? I called dealer today (in Poland) as my X350 rear driver is higher than all of the rest wheels and they quoted me 166USD just for the height adjustment... Previous owner was fiddling with mechanic at this exact side so maybe they did not readjust the setting after all...

I, too, have the aforementioned. I know very little on the subject, but can tell you that it gives tons of codes on my 04 XJR. Car runs as she did when I drove her from the showroom floor. The only issue is that I haven't been able to find out why my cruise control doesn't work & I have the amber warning light, etc. Installed a new clock spring Saturday to no avail. She just turned 96k miles.

I have just ordered this code scanner, we'll see how it behaves. Thanks for the review gentlemen.
On the other hand, does anyone have slightest idea where can I get an original Mongoose cable from Drew Tech? Most preferably in EU region... Their website don't list the Jag version of the cable anymore and browsing dozen of listings keep me finding clones only... Unless there is some better way to fiddle with X350 and SDD in the future. I know the cost of the original was much higher than cheaper clones, but browsing numerous threads on this forum got me thinking
Cheers!

OK, some codes are no longer there, but these are the ones I have:
U2515 missing message for Adaptive Speed Control
U2511 can-data mismatch
B1940 Seat memory position out of range
B2309 Seat motor out of range
B2363 Optical sensor system failure
B2262 Windshield wiper park to park time out
B2496 Antitheft horn circuit short to ground
The only thing I see that could be related to cruise control is B2363 re optical sensors. A previous poster noted ACC errors are usually P Codes, but I have none.

04Xjrsteve, There is usually a switch on the brake pedal that works with the cruise control, sometimes it's just the brake light switch that doubles up, but other cars have a seperate one for cruise control fitted side by side with the brake light switch. Not sure on the Jag but could be worth a look.

Thanks, Brian 5. Yes, when I've broached this subject before another member pointed out that the switch had fixed his.
I fear I have gotten off the subject of the orgriginal post; apologies. I hope to do an outline on the ACC issue & start a new thread summarizing as much of the already posted knowledge as possible And there is a lot. I would like to do the same on the mongoose vs. ...
